The Soto Family: Rafael, Cara, Adelyn, Branson, Amelia, Briggs and Banning

Rafael Soto

Rafael Soto was born in Kalihi, raised in Ewa Beach, and saved at the age of eleven. During his senior year of high school, the Lord began working in his heart about attending Bible college with the purpose of working in the ministry. He attended college in California where he received both Bachelor’s and Master’s degrees in Pastoral Ministry and Biblical Theology.

While at Bible college, he met his wife Cara. She grew up in the Washington DC area and was saved at the age of five.  After graduation from college, they served for two years under Pastor James Reid at the Friendship Baptist Church. God then lead Rafael to a pastoral training position in Woodbridge, Virginia where they served on staff at the Heritage Baptist Church, alongside Pastor Michael Edwards for five years.

After serving at two different ministries, Rafael began working towards returning to the islands to start a church. God directed him to the city of Hawaii Kai to plant Kai Point Baptist Church. He and Cara now have five young children, Adelyn, Branson, Amelia, Briggs, and Banning.

God has given Rafael a tremendous love for the people of Hawaii. His desire is to show the love and saving grace that Jesus offers.

The Sotos returned to Oahu in May of 2016 to plant the Kai Point Baptist Church in Hawaii Kai.
